Kick Your Ass Idea #118 – Sprint!

Have you been watching the coverage of the 2012 Olympics? If you have, you’ve seen some of the amazing athletes and you know that years of concentrated practice can help you become almost superhuman. But even if you’re not destined to win gold in Rio in 2016, you can shake up your personal routine by running some sprints!

You could probably walk 100 meters in about 1.2 minutes. The world record is around 9.92 seconds. So why not go out and see how far you can shave your time from a normal walk to a speed approaching the world record? Try this three times in a row, 3 times a week, and keep at it for 3 months. I’m betting that most able-bodied people would be a lot closer to the world record than to walking speed by the end of the 3 months.

You might get in a lot better shape. You might find out you like running. And you might just get your ass well and truly kicked into gear!
